Norman Mathews, a senior at W.T. Clarke High School, has advanced to Finalist status in the National Achievement Scholarship Program. Named a Semifinalist in the fall of 2010, Norman has now advanced to Finalist standing so he can be considered for an Achievement Scholarship award to be offered in 2011.
The National Achievement Scholarship Program is an academic competition established in 1964 to provided recognition for outstanding Black American high school students.
Approximately 1,600 high-scoring participants in each year’s National Achievement Scholarship Program are designated Semifinalists. To ensure that academically talented Black American students throughout the nation are included in the pool, Semifinalists are named on a regional representation basis. The highest-scoring program participants in the states constitute each region.
Congratulations to Norman and best of luck in the Finalist round of the program!
